Content policy

paperplane puts real paper in real mailboxes. That physicality is the point — and it is why we screen every letter before printing. This page says exactly what we refuse, what we allow, and how the process works. We publish it because a mail service you can trust with a legal notice has to be a mail service that criminals can't use.

We refuse to print and mail:

• Threats of violence or harm toward the recipient or anyone else.
• Harassment campaigns — including repeated unwanted mail to the same recipient.
• Impersonation designed to deceive: fake IRS or government notices, fake bank alerts, counterfeit invoices, or anything dressed up as an institution it isn't from.
• Fraud: advance-fee schemes, prize scams, phishing letters, deceptive collection demands.
• Sextortion or blackmail of any kind.
• Any content sexualizing minors. Detection is reported to NCMEC as required by law.

We explicitly allow (and most of our mail is):

• Everyday personal and business correspondence.
• Lawful hostile mail — demand letters, security-deposit-demand-letter demands, disputes, complaints, cease-and-desist-letter letters, and firm legal language. Threatening a lawsuit is legal. Threatening a person is not. Our screening is specifically calibrated to know the difference.
• Government forms, applications, cancellations, official correspondence.

How screening works

Every letter passes an automated content screen in seconds. Most mail is approved instantly. Ambiguous letters go to a human reviewer (usually within a few hours) — your card is authorized but never charged unless your letter is approved and printed. Refused orders release the payment hold in full, automatically.

At launch we accept text documents only (typed letters and text-based PDFs). Scanned images and photo uploads are not yet supported — that limitation is part of our abuse-prevention posture and will only be lifted with industry-standard image safety scanning in place.

Volume limits

5 letters per day and 20 per month per sender without verification. Legitimate higher-volume senders can contact help@sendpaperplane.com for a verified account. These caps exist so this service cannot be scripted into a harassment or fraud machine.

Auditability

We keep a permanent audit record of every order's screening verdict and delivery events, and cooperate with law enforcement when presented with valid legal process. Document files themselves are deleted 30 days after delivery.
